Buy Algae – Spirulina, Chlorella & Marine Algae from Controlled Cultivation

Algae are one of the oldest groups of organisms on Earth, ranging from microscopically small microalgae such as spirulina and chlorella to the larger macroalgae from the sea, such as sea moss (Irish moss). Botanically, they form their own diverse group of photosynthetic aquatic organisms. In this category, you'll find algae products from Scheunengut – from controlled cultivation, vegan and lab-tested.

Origin & Extraction

Microalgae such as spirulina and chlorella are cultivated in tanks or closed systems, harvested and gently dried. Macroalgae such as sea moss come from the sea and are likewise dried and processed. The raw materials come from France, Australia and Ireland, among other places.

Standardisation & Format

Algae are available as powder, pressed tablets or capsules, as well as concentrated extracts, such as sea moss at a 30:1 ratio. What matters is a transparent origin statement and – for extracts – a declared concentration ratio. The pigment astaxanthin is also obtained from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis.

What to Look for When Buying

  • Transparently declared species, origin and – for extracts – concentration ratio
  • Controlled cultivation rather than unclear wild harvesting
  • Vegan, without unnecessary additives
  • Independently lab-tested quality and purity
