High-dose extract of annual mugwort (30:1) with 21% artemisinin

The sale ofArtemisia AnnuaThe sale of this product as a food or food supplement is currently not permitted in Germany and the EU. This is due to the EU's Novel Food Regulation of 2015. It regulates the import and sale of products that were only sold in small quantities in Europe before May 15, 1997.

Artemisia annua (annual mugwort) itself is neither prohibited nor harmful to health. Neither the cultivation nor the sale of the plant itself, nor its processing, is prohibited. However, what is currently not permitted is the labeling and marketing of Artemisia annua as a "food supplement" within the EU. Our Artemisia annua extract is a pure plant raw material, expressly not intended for oral consumption (not a food or food ingredient). Please bear this in mind when further using or processing the raw material.

Artemisinin- In 2015, the discovery of the secondary plant compound artemisinin was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine. The plant itself has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for millennia.

The production of our dual extract ofArtemisia annua(Annual wormwood) utilizes two different extraction methods to obtain a wider range of active ingredients from the plant. Our plants are cultivated in southern Germany and harvested fresh annually.

1. Drying and grindingThe leaves and flowers are gently dried and crushed after harvesting to create a larger surface area for extraction.

2. Hydrophilic (aqueous) extractionIn the first step of the extraction process, the dried plant material is extracted in warm water. After extraction, the aqueous extract is filtered and the water is evaporated to obtain a concentrated solution of the water-soluble substances.

3. Liposoluble (alcoholic) extractionIn the second step, the plant material is soaked in food-grade alcohol to remove the fat-soluble compounds such asArtemisininand to extract other terpenes. This extract is then also filtered, and the alcohol is evaporated to obtain a concentrated lipophilic extract. The color of the extract is now brownish and no longer green, like simple Artemisia annua leaf powder.

4. Combining the extractsIn the final step, the two extracted products (aqueous and alcoholic) are combined to obtain the dual extract, which contains the water- and fat-soluble active ingredients of the plant.

The dried, pure 30:1 extract is dispensed into our brown PET containers using small measuring spoons. 100% free of additives, colorings, or fillers. Production has always taken place in Germany under the strictest regulations – without compromise.
